
Beth Ann Cameron, a 24-year-old sailor stationed at the former Charleston Naval base assigned to the submarine tender USS Holland was last seen alive on Dec. 17, 1987 at a North Charleston apartment complex. Her body was found in the woods off Crossroads Drive in North Charleston, not far from that complex, on Jan. 1, 1988.

Hutto’s arrest was announced on Thursday by the BCSO.
According to North Charleston Police Department Public Information Officer Spencer Pryor, NCPD officers in the area of Highway 78 and Interstate 26 attempted to execute a traffic violation stop on the driver of a 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo only to see
• An armed robber held up a delivery driver and made off with $414 on Jan. 29 at 10:20 p.m. at an apartment complex near Hallmark Drive. The victim, a 36-year-old Goose Creek woman, called police after leaving the scene. She said she received a food order to her restaurant and while delivering it she was approached from the backside of a breeze way by the suspect, an unknown black male wearing all black and a ski mask, about six feet tall and thin.

On Sunday at approximately 4 a.m. Steven Lee Morgan, 37, forcibly entered a Ryan Creek subdivision home in Goose Creek of a former girlfriend, age 47, and severely beat the victim and sexually assaulted her, according to the GCPD.

It’s been a busy month for members of the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office Drug Enforcement Unit.

A Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office deputy was hit Jan. 17 by a drunk driver while working at the scene of a traffic collision.
According to S.C. Highway Patrol Cpl. Bob Beres, the accident occurred on South Live Oak Drive near Frederick Douglas Road near Moncks Corner.

A 17-year-old has been arrested for attempted murder after shots were fired at a car in Goose Creek.
A vehicle traveling west on Stephanie Drive in the Boulder Bluff subdivision was struck by gunfire at 11:48 a.m. on Jan. 20, according to the Goose Creek Police Department.

The Goose Creek Police Department has identified and arrested two individuals believed to be responsible for the armed robbery and shooting at Zaxby’s restaurant (433 St. James Avenue) that occurred on Dec. 24.
The robbery occurred at 12:04 a.m., according to a GCPD report. The original incident report lists three victims and three witnesses.
The following incidents were obtained from Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office reports:
• A man came up to an auto repair shop on Redbank Road and attempted to rob an employee who was working at about 8:50 p.m. on Jan. 16.

According to the Berkeley County Government website Fayall is charged with driving under the influence, .10, first offense, open container of beer or wine in a motor vehicle, possession of 28g (1 oz.) or less of marijuana or 10g or less of hash, first offense, unlawful carrying of a pistol, and resisting arrest.
• An unknown armed robber started off 2012 by holding up a St. James Avenue convenience store with a knife just after 9 p.m. on Jan. 1.
There were 10 arrests made in at least 14 different shoplifting cases between Dec. 7 and Dec. 21, according to the reports.
• A dirt bike was reportedly stolen from a Clay Street residence on Dec. 28. The 2002 10cc Honda is red with a white panel that has a muffler burn hole though the panel. The dirt bike was stolen from the back patio where it had been parked and was last seen the night before.

The incidents occurred in numerous neighborhoods around Thanksgiving as reported in The Gazette’s Dec. 15 story “Mailbox vandals strike.”
Deputies responded to 1420 Redbank Road, the Da Ville Club, and found one patron with a wound to her foot.
The store is located at 205 North Goose Creek Boulevard.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of the dog – a pit bull – owned by the family of a nine-year-old autistic child.
• On Dec. 27 a Goose Creek woman on Rumson Road reported that about $5,000 worth of her jewelry was missing. The jewelry was mostly gold with several pieces incorporating diamonds. The victim said she believes that either visiting family members or contractors remodeling her home between Nov. 1 and the above date took the jewelry in her bedroom dresser.
On Dec. 25 a Goose Creek woman on Raway Drive reported that unknown persons attempted to pull off her personalized license plate. The deputy noticed the plate was still attached to the front bumper by one screw. The hole that connected the other screw had been pulled away causing the license plate to be bent. The damage to the plate appears to be about $10.
• A liquor store clerk working on St. James Avenue may start taking a closer look at IDs after a police sting in which she sold alcohol to a minor. On Dec. 16 a Juvenile Confidential Informant was utilized in an attempt to purchase liquor from Atlantic Spirits. The juvenile had been outfitted with an audio and video recording device and had a S.C. Driver’s License identifying the informant as being 18.
The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the shocking case, reported in The Independent last week, about Toby, the Nolan family’s American Bull Terrier, stolen from the family’s front yard on Gaillard Road.

Deputies responded Dec. 20 at about 7 p.m. to a reported stabbing in front of 106 Ashwood Court where they found a man with what appeared to be a severe laceration to his face and neck area. The suspect had fled on foot but what apprehended a short time later a few blocks away.
Berkeley County Coroner Bill Salisbury has identified the deceased as Devon Williams, 32, and his wife, Lesha Williams, 31.
• A Goose Creek woman returned home from work on the evening of Dec. 12 to her Greenmeadow Road residence only to find it had been burglarized. The screen on her porch had been cut and entry was made through the sliding glass door, which was unlocked. A 42-inch Panasonic plasma TV was taken form the residence. The TV is valued at $800.

A black male, approximately 6’1” / 260 pounds, came into the business demanding money while pointing a handgun at the workers. There was also a customer in the store with small children.
The H.E.A.T. (Highway Enforcement of Aggressive Traffic) team is aggressively patrolling for alcohol or drug impaired drivers during this historically dangerous time to be on the roadways.
• A Ladson man returned to his used car lot on the morning of Dec. 7 to find that a parked 1997 Honda Accord had been stolen overnight. The complainant said he has the only keys to the vehicle, which is green, has four doors, tinted windows and most of the hood’s clear coat has peeled off. The vehicle, valued at $4,000, was entered into NCIC as stolen.
• A car parked on Prospect Way was covered in an unknown white substance during the night before its owner left for work at 5 a.m. on Nov. 25.
The first incident occurred on Nov. 25 just after 10 p.m. on Fox Chase Drive in the Hunters Woods subdivision. The complainant said he heard a loud crash from outside and then saw his mailbox lying in the roadway, destroyed. The unknown vehicle was gone by the time he was outside.
