This includes math questions of the day, specialized math lessons, advisement lessons, after school and Saturday tutoring and a numerical countdown in the main hall on the school’s flat screen televisions.
A grant was written and funded to provide money for extra tutorial sessions both after school and on Saturday mornings for students.
In addition, refreshments and incentives were purchased to entice more students to participate in the extra tutoring. Students who attended three of four Saturday math tutorial sessions were entered into a drawing to win one of 10 I-pods. The last session was Saturday, April 19.
In addition to the tutoring, many students attended special pullout sessions during the regular school day geared specifically to teaching HSAP skills. HSAP “questions of the day” are being reviewed in the math classes and in every tenth grade Advisement class, HSAP English and math problems are discussed.
