Casting a Spell

Macedonia Middle School was the site of the recent Berkeley County School District Spelling Bee. Fifty-one fifth through eighth graders who previously qualified at their respective schools participated in the annual event. The top 12 students qualified to participate in the Regional "SpellBound" competition to be held in Charleston Southern University's Lightsey Chapel March 13. Westview Middle student Jordan Elum won the Bee; Macedonia Middle student Forrest Wrenn placed second. Above, Jordan Elum concentrates on a final round word as Forrest Wrenn awaits the outcome.
