Sangaree Middle orientation camp Aug. 15

This year’s sixth graders at Sangaree Middle School are invited to attend “Camp Soaring Eagle,” a half day of activities designed to help with going-to-middle-school jitters.

The camp is planned for 8:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., Aug. 15 at the school. Only sixth graders will attend on this day, as part of their orientation to middle school.

The students will spend the morning with their teachers and other staff members learning procedures and information to make their middle school years a success. During Camp Eagle, the students will be guided to their academic classes, meet their teachers, set up their locker, have ID pictures taken, collect textbooks, receive the middle school handbook and begin to learn how to navigate through the facility.

The sixth graders are asked to bring pencils, paper, and folders and to dress comfortably, according to Berkeley County School District dress code.  Lockers will cost $6.

Their parents are invited to join school administration for doughnuts and coffee in the Media Center of the school at 8:30 a.m.  An orientation to Sangaree Middle School will be provided.

A special “meet and greet” will be held for all parents and students in sixth, seventh and eighth grades on Thursday, Aug. 14 from 5-7 p.m.

Seventh grade students may pick up class schedules and textbooks on Tuesday, Aug. 12, from 2-6 p.m.; and eighth graders on Monday, Aug. 11, from 2-6 p.m.  Lockers will cost $6.

The first day of school is Aug. 18. Additional information may be obtained by calling the school office at 821-4028.

This is really good for the rising sixth graders. It is amazing how they do this.
