Westview Middle’s ‘Journey’ set for Aug. 15

“Journey to the Middle” will take place at Westview Middle School on Aug. 15 from 9 a.m. until noon.

It is a day of engaging, activity filled-sessions taught by sixth grade teachers designed to help your child have a smooth transition into middle school.

Is your incoming sixth grader ready for the jump to middle school? Is your child worried about finding their classes, and rotating teachers all day?

Is your child anxious about meeting friends form the other elementary schools?

If you answered “yes” to any of these questions then Journey to the Middle will be perfect for your child.

Camp time will be spent engaging students in activities to acquaint them with the school, their schedule, and new friends.

Time will be spent preparing students for life at the middle school. There will be an orientation of the school, a preview of what to expect in P.E., and an overview of the arts and technology rotation, as well as many other fun, engaging, useful activities.

Journey to the Middle also provides a chance for students to meet other new sixth graders. Students are grouped for various activities based on their sixth grade team, allowing for more opportunities to see friendly faces on the first day of school.

There will be a time to ask questions about the middle school each day and a panel of former sixth graders will answer questions as well.

The school’s “Meet the Teacher” for seventh and eighth grade will take place Wednesday, Aug. 13 from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
