As we reflect on our recent community read, “One Book Berkeley,” we realize anew what a community means. Without the enthusiasm, hard work and financial support of so many, our celebration of reading and literacy would not have been possible.
We are especially grateful to the Alcoa Foundation, the Berkeley County Foundation for Education, the Communities in Schools Foundation, the Home Community Fund of the Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina, Kiwanis and Rotary Clubs, Berkeley County School District, and Berkeley County Government. These groups graciously shared their expertise and financial resources.
We thank the newspaper, whose articles and pictures carried our message throughout our large county.
Finally, we appreciate our friends and neighbors who embraced our venture and readily shared the “Marley” books with others.
