Coroner’s Office investigating suspicious death

The Moncks Corner Police Department and the Berkeley County Coroners Office are investigating the death of a South Carolina Public Service Authority agent that occurred Friday in Moncks Corner.

MCPD Chief Chad Caldwell said that 61-year-old Frank Glover of Summerville, an agent with the S.C. Public Service Authority (Santee Cooper Law Enforcement), had been in a scuffle with a 58-year-old man of Moncks Corner, and had arrested the man for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

MCPD officers had responded to assist and were transporting the subject to Hill Finklea Detention Center with Glover following them when they received a call about an unresponsive driver at the railroad tracks on Main Street in Moncks Corner.

When officers arrived at the tracks, they found that Glover was the driver. Glover was transported to a local emergency facility where he was pronounced dead.

Caldwell offered condolences to Glover’s family, friends, and co-workers.

“Agent Glover was a fine outstanding law enforcement agent who had worked closely with the Moncks Corner Police Department on several occasions,” Caldwell said. “He was always professional and quick to offer assistance of any kind. He will be greatly missed.”

Caldwell said the subject whom Glover had arrested remains in Hill Finklea and could face more serious charges depending on the results of the investigations.
