David Kyal Shirley, of Goose Creek, SC passed away January 16, 2010.  The funeral service for Kyal Shirley will be Wednesday, January 20, 2010 Cryptside at Plantation Memorial Gardens at ten o’clock.  The family will receive friends at J. HENRY STUHR, INC., NORTHWOODS CHAPEL Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 o’clock.
 Kyal was born on August 12, 1984 in North Charleston, SC, son of Billy Eugene Shirley and Michelle Denise Williams.  He attended Goose Creek High School and earned his high school diploma from Georgia Christian Academy.  Kyle worked for Phillips Industrial.
Frank W. Sanders Jr.
Frank W. Sanders Jr. of Goose Creek died Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010. He was 89.
Born Oct. 9, 1920 in Inwood Park Nasssau, NY, he was one of nine children of Frank Woodruff Sanders and Elizabeth Catherine Boinay Sanders. He served in the US Army 82nd Airborne as a Captain during World War II; he received the silver star, three bronze medals and a Purple Heart with clusters.  
Leroy Dupont McKenzie of St. Stephen, a truck driver for Welborn Trucking, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010. He was 60.
Surviving are two sons, William "Billy" McKenzie and David Leroy McKenzie, both of Goose Creek; two sisters, Sheila McKenzie Bowers of Hampton and Marietta McKenzie of Summerville; two grandchildren, Joshua Michael McKenzie and Amanda Marie McKenzie; and many other family members and loved ones who will miss him greatly.
Randolph Butler "R.B." Dugger Jr. of Moncks Corner, a retired heavy equipment operator, died Friday, Jan. 15, 2010. He was 95.
Surviving are his daughter-in-law, Jackie Clark of Goose Creek; a sister, Mary D. Reame of Slater, SC; a niece, Martha Dillard Nye of Summerville; a nephew, John A. Dillard of Marietta, GA; a grandson, Rob Clark of Goose Creek; and many other nieces and nephews.
Carol Lynda Steger of Goose Creek, wife of the late William “Tiny” Paul Steger, entered into eternal rest on Friday, Jan. 15, 2010. She was 69.
Born Feb. 18, 1940 in Montgomery, Al., she was one of three children of the late Coleman B. Rowland and Virginia E. Rowland. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the College of Charleston, and worked for many years at Evans Rule Company. Lynda had a lifelong passion for craftwork. Her handwork included knitting, crocheting, cross stitching, and tatting, and she was known to her friends on line as “Tattinglady.”
Call, Irma Margaret Parker
Irma Margaret Parker Call, 88, mother of Berkeley County Councilman Bob Call, passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, at Medical Center of Central Georgia after a long illness. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2010, at Christ's Sanctified Holy Church with Reverend Steve Gray officiating. Interment will be in Christ's Sanctified Holy Church Cemetery immediately following the service. Visitation will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, January 8, 2010, at Christ's Sanctified Holy Church.
Mrs. Call was born in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Brittan Harrison Parker and Alice Tingle Parker. She had lived in Perry for nearly 20 years, having moved here from Raleigh, North Carolina. A homemaker most of her life, she was a faithful member of Christ's Sanctified Holy Church. While southern gospel music has always been an important part of her life, she has been named by many in the church as one of the "Best Singers" at the campground. Mrs. Call was preceded in death by her sisters, Alma Gray and Mildred Vaughn.
Marjorie Ann Metsala Rooks of Moncks Corner, a retired bookkeeper for the Department of Social Services, died Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010. She was 74.
Surviving are her husband, Aubrey E. Rooks; a daughter, Barbara Robertsen of Goose Creek; a son, Scott Robertsen of Goose Creek; a sister, Judy Elwell of Baxter, MN; three nieces, Jill, Chris, and Karin; and five nephews, Mark, Kelly, Stacy, Bill, and Dan.
McConnell, John Charles
Heaven’s Very Special Child, John Charles McConnell, 40 of Goose Creek, SC passed away and went back to Heaven at 12:39 pm on Christmas Eve.
Visitation was held Monday morning, December 28, 2009 at Parks Funeral Home in Summerville. The Mass of the Angels was held at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church Monday morning, December 28, 2009 at 11 am in Summerville. Burial was in Summerville Cemetery. Katherine Virginia "Kitty" Ledford Metts of Strawberry, a retired owner and operator of Metts’ Grocery in Strawberry, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009. She was 83.
Surviving are two sisters, Bernice Clontz and Georgia Baldwin, both of Marion, NC; two brothers-in-law, Gene Metts and his wife, Helen, of North Charleston and James Metts of Oakley; two sisters-in-law, Odell Cockcroft of Moncks Corner and Betty Miller of Milledgeville, GA; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to give a special thanks to her caregiver and niece, Edna M. Clarke.
Harry Henry Francis Hutson Jr. died on Dec. 18.
Born in Charleston, he was the son of the late Harry H. F. Hutson Sr. and the late Ethel Grayson Hutson. He was a retired welder and pipe fitter.
Alex Wayne Buck of Goose Creek, a student at Trident Technical College, died Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009.?e was 23.
Surviving are his mother and step father, Stormy Knight, of Egypt; his father and his companion, Antoinette, of Goose Creek; two sisters, Sabrina E. Buck and Jessica L. Carlson, both of Goose Creek; a step-sister, Misty K. McKinney of Ladson; a step-brother, Stormy Knight II of Rock Hill; his grandparents, Esther and Ron Kemper of Goose Creek, Norma and Stretch Henderson of Goose Creek, and Linwood and Debra Caraway of Charleston; his great-grandparents, Tiny Grooms and Ruby and Steve Krill, all of Knightsville; and several nieces and nephews. ??
Petty Officer First Class John Hail Oglesby Sr., U.S. Navy, Ret., of Charleston died Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009. He was 74.
Surviving are his daughter, Terri Ann Robinson of West Ashley; two sons, John H. Oglesby Jr., of Grapevine, TX, and Michael J. Oglesby of Goose Creek; three sisters, Betty Baggett, Helen White and Birdie Mae Chapman, all of Pensacola, FL; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Barbara Sue Cunningham Sheffield West of Goose Creek, a former waitress, died Monday, Nov. 23, 2009. She was 70.
Surviving are a daughter, Lynn Leath of Tennessee; three sons, Kenneth Sheffield of Bonneau, Steven Sheffield of Goose Creek, and David Sheffield of Ft. Lauderdale, Fl; two sisters, Nell Elliott of Memphis, TN, and Joy Morris of Bradford, TN; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
J. Christopher "Chris" Esco of North Charleston, a former security guard for Dyncorp Inc., at the Charleston Naval Weapons Station, died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009. He was 52.
Surviving are his parents of Moncks Corner; a daughter, Jennifer Hanh Esco of Goose Creek; three sons, Jon David Esco of N. Charleston, Mark Christopher Esco of West Ashley, and Jon Tanner Esco of Goose Creek; two sisters, Allison Lynne Nielsen of Montgomery, AL, and Susan Elizabeth Malone of Jacksonville, FL; and a grandchild, Jonah Christopher Esco.
