The Lady Gators’ softball season came to a close with a 5-0 Region 7-AAAA playoff loss to West Florence at Goose Creek Tuesday.

With the strong arm of pitcher Caroline Pastre, the Lady Knights claimed a region championship, a district championship and remain undefeated in the playoffs. In the Stratford’s victory over South Florence, Pastre struck out 10 batters with no walks.
“Caroline is a very hard worker and takes her job on the mound very seriously,” SHS pitching coach Marissa Echenique said. “She is always staying after practice to improve her pitching skills, and I am extremely proud of how she has developed as a pitcher.”

The rivalry continued between Goose Creek and Stratford Friday, as five second-half goals led to a 6-2 SHS win in a girls’ soccer match.
With the Lady Knights down 2-1 in the second half and 24 minutes left in the game, a straight shot from Stratford’s Hope Martin tied the game. Martin continued to make her presence known as she circled around Goose Creek defenders to score her second goal in just over a minute and give SHS a 3-2 lead.
