The Bruins (9-3) got a 1-yard touchdown run from Zed Truesdale in the closing minute for the go-ahead score. They are in the midst of their best campaign since going 8-4 in 2000.
This week, they are seeking their first 10-win season since 1996 under then-coach Johnny Roscoe.
They are led by third-year coach Bennie McMurray, who won three state titles at Class A Lewisville before leaving for North Carolina and coming back to Lancaster. He is 16-18 in his time there.
The other score against Greenwood was a 62-yard pass from quarterback Matt Reese to Shane Carter. Kicker Anna Funderburk made both of her extra points for the Bruins.
The defensive ringleader is linebacker Dawan Thompson, who has over 100 tackles. He has been selected to play in the SCADA North-South All-Star Game in Myrtle Beach after the season. Behind Thompson, the Bruins have four shutouts this fall.
Goose Creek and Lancaster have one common opponent, Northwestern.
Both lost to the Trojans, with the Gators falling 42-21 and the Bruins going down 27-7.

Bruin Pride : 11/21/2008
Lancaster is one of the best teams in there division. They have a stout defense led by all but 2 seniors. Three big names that the Gators have to worry about for LHS's defense is LB Stephno Drakeford LB Dewuan Thompson and CB Brion Strothers. Strothers leads the team in interceptions with 10. Both Drakeford and Thompson are the top 2 tacklers for the team. With Thompson choosen to play in the annual North vs. South game in December. The Gators hasn't seen a defense with this much talent. It will be a close game but the Bruins pull this one out by a small margin. GO BRUINS!!
