Former GCHS basketball standouts making their mark in college

Several Goose Creek High School basketball products are among the area’s former stars shining in other parts of the state.

Two former GCHS standouts apiece are at Francis Marion (Florence) and Erskine College (Due West).?At Francis Marion, Kendrick Robinson is a senior guard helping to lead the Patriots to a stellar season. Robinson has started 15 of 16 games, averaging 10.6 points and 3.5 rebounds a game for the 14-2 Patriots.

In his last game, Robinson had team-highs in points (13) and rebounds (8) to power FMU past Columbus State 65-62.

Also for FMU, junior center David Turner is from GCHS. He’s averaging 6.6 points per game and 6.1 rebounds.

At Erskine, Brandon Wright is having another very good season for the Flying Fleet.

He had 27 points for Erskine (6-7) in a triple-overtime loss to Brevard on Monday.

For the Erskine women (6-6), Denicsha Bennamon is a freshman guard. She’s played in all 12 games but has not registered a start.
