Smoak sets USC record

Former Stratford baseball standout Justin Smoak tied the University of South Carolina school record for career home runs last week.

Smoak’s record-tying homer came as the Gamecocks defeated Clemson 7-1 April 9 at Sarge Frye Field in Columbia.

Smoak broke that same record hitting his 49th home run in a Gamecock uniform and 10th of the 2008 season against Auburn in the Friday night game on April 11. The game was the first of a three-game SEC sweep of the Tigers for USC.
