Josh Kubisz was 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI’s, and Mitchell Huskey crushed a home run in a win that upped the Gator record to 13-1.
For the second time in as many games, the Gators got off to a fast start.
Coach Scott Durham’s squad scored four runs in the first inning, two in the second and one in the third to take a commanding, 7-0 lead.
Fauquier answered, with three runs in both the fourth and fifth innings. But the Gator bats again came alive in the sixth and seventh, when a combined four runs crossed the plate to seal the win.
Gator slugger Kenny Bryant continued to shine, as he went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI’s. Brent Perry also had a double and scored two runs; and Nick Jonason had a double, an RBI, and scored one run.
Huskey, who blanked White Plains in the HIT opener a day earlier, was 2-for-4 on the night with the homer and two RBI’s.
Chris Romack finished with a hit and two runs scored; Anthony DeMeo was 2-for-3 with a double, and Yamil Perez also scored a run.
Collecting the win for the Gators was Elijah Nichols (1-0), who pitched three and 1/3 innings of relief. Nichols allowed four hits, three runs, one walk and two strikeouts.
