The Gators are scheduled to play Midlothian High School out of Virginia at 8 p.m. Thursday night at Collins Park, in a quarter-final game in the annual tournament.
Standout Brent Perry led the Gator attack Wednesday, with a 2-for-3, 3-RBI performance that included a home run. Perry also was the game’s winning pitcher: he struck out six and gave up only two hits.
Perry’s two-out, third inning triple knocked in one run, and he would later score on a wild pitch.
The game was broken open in the fourth inning, however, as the Gators racked up six runs – all with two outs.
Yamil Perez and Kenny Bryant both had two-run singles; Josh Kibisz had an RBI single; and Tony Bryan scored on a wild pitch.
Perry capped the scoring with a solo homer.
The win raised Goose Creek’s overall record to 14-1.
